Describtion |
This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique for the quantitative detection of human IGFBP-4. The Human IGFBP-4 ELISA is for research use only. Not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 4 (IGFBP-4) is a 24-kDa protein , The protein binds both insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) I and II and circulates in the plasma in both glycosylated and non-glycosylated forms. Binding of this protein prolongs the half-life of the IGFs and alters their interaction with cell surface receptors. The superfamily of insulin-like growth factor (IGF) binding proteins include the six high-affinity IGF binding proteins (IGFBP) and at least four additional low-affinity binding proteins referred to as IGFBP related proteins (IGFBP-RP). IGFBP-4 inhibits IGF-I action in vitro and is the most abundant IGFBP in the rodent arterial wall. Expression of IGFBP-4 mRNA in nontransgenic littermates was maximal in liver and kidne |
