CCL26

HGNC ID: 10625

Target Abstract:

The chemokine CC ligand 26 (CCL26) is a small molecular weight cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family, also known as eosinophil-activated chemokine 3 (Eotaxin-3), macrophage inflammatory protein 4 alpha (MIP-4 alpha), thymic stromal chemokine 1 (TSC-1), and IMAC.It is expressed in a wide variety of tissues, including the heart, lungs, and ovary, and in IL-4-stimulated endothelial cells. Eotaxin-3 exerts chemotactic effects on eosinophils and basophils by binding to the cell-surface chemokine receptor CCR3.Eotaxin-3, along with Eotaxin-1 and Eotaxin-2, selectively activates CCR3.Eotaxin-3-CCR3 interaction has been shown to be important in the treatment of allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis and bronchiolitis. reactive dermatitis and bronchial asthma.

Human CCL26 Predicted Functions

Enables CCR3 chemokine receptor binding activity; CX3C chemokine receptor binding activity; and chemokine activity. Involved in several processes, including leukocyte chemotaxis; positive regulation of GTPase activity; and positive regulation of actin filament polymerization. Located in extracellular space. Implicated in asthma; eosinophilic esophagitis; and rhinitis. Biomarker of several diseases, including Churg-Strauss syndrome; dermatitis (multiple); eosinophilic esophagitis; eosinophilic gastroenteritis; and rhinitis (multiple).
