CD34

HGNC ID: 1662

Target Abstract: Cluster of Differentiation 34 (CD34) is a member of a family of single-pass transmembrane sialomucin proteins, and may function as a cell-cell adhesion factor. CD34 protein is selectively expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells and the small vessel endothelium of a variety of tissues. It has been widely used as a stem and progenitor cell marker, and clinical CD34+ stem cell transplantation (CD34+SCT) has been performed for tumor purging. CD34 monoclonal antibodies are widely used to identify and isolate hemopoietic progenitors and to classify acute and chronic leukemias.

人 Human CD34 Target Information

Human CD34 Predicted Functions

Enables RNA polymerase II-specific DNA-binding transcription factor binding activity and carbohydrate binding activity. Involved in several processes, including blood vessel development; regulation of cellular response to stress; and regulation of cytokine production. Located in external side of plasma membrane; intercellular bridge; and perinuclear region of cytoplasm. Biomarker of thyroid gland carcinoma.

Mouse Cd34 Target Information

Mouse Cd34 Predicted Functions

Enables sulfate binding activity. Acts upstream of or within leukocyte migration. Located in cytoplasm; external side of plasma membrane; and extracellular region. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; cardiovascular system; extraembryonic component; genitourinary system; and skin. Orthologous to human CD34 (CD34 molecule).

Rat Cd34 Target Information

Rat Cd34 Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable RNA polymerase II-specific DNA-binding transcription factor binding activity; carbohydrate binding activity; and sulfate binding activity. Involved in glomerular filtration and mesangial cell-matrix adhesion. Located in apical plasma membrane; basal plasma membrane; and lysosome. Part of glomerular endothelium fenestra. Biomarker of diabetic retinopathy. Orthologous to human CD34 (CD34 molecule).
