Assay PrincipleThis kit utilizes the double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection technique.Specific anti-human Pentraxin 3 antibodies are precoated on a high-affinity ELISA plate. Standard samples, test samples, and biotinylated detection antibodies are added to the wells of the ELISA plate. After incubation, Pentraxin 3 present in the samples binds to the solid-phase antibodies and the detection antibodies. After washing to remove unbound substances, streptavidin-HRP labeled with horseradish peroxidase is added. After washing, a colorimetric substrate, TMB, is added and the plate is incubated in the dark for color development. The intensity of the color reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of Pentraxin 3 in the samples. A stop solution is added to terminate the reaction, and the absorbance value is measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (with a reference wavelength range of 570-630 nm).

Human PTX3 Predicted Functions

Enables complement component C1q complex binding activity; identical protein binding activity; and virion binding activity. Involved in innate immune response; modulation by host of viral process; and negative regulation of viral entry into host cell. Located in extracellular space. Implicated in cystic fibrosis and invasive aspergillosis. Biomarker of hepatitis C; invasive aspergillosis; pelvic inflammatory disease; pulmonary aspergilloma; and toxic shock syndrome.

Mouse Ptx3 Target Information

Mouse Ptx3 Predicted Functions

Enables (1->3)-beta-D-glucan binding activity. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including opsonization; ovarian cumulus expansion; and positive regulation of nitric oxide biosynthetic process. Located in extracellular matrix. Is expressed in cochlea; cochlea epithelium; inner ear vestibular component; organ of Corti; and stria vascularis. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in cystic fibrosis and invasive aspergillosis. Orthologous to human PTX3 (pentraxin 3).
