Assay PrincipleThis kit utilizes the double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection technique.Specific anti-human AFP antibodies are precoated on a high-affinity ELISA plate. Standard samples, test samples, and the detection antibody labeled with horseradish peroxidase are added to the wells of the ELISA plate. After incubation, AFP present in the samples binds to the solid-phase antibodies and the detection antibodies. After washing, a colorimetric substrate, TMB, is added and the plate is incubated in the dark for color development. The intensity of the color reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of AFP in the samples.A stop solution is added to terminate the reaction, and the absorbance value is measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (with a reference wavelength range of 570-630 nm).

Human AFP Target Information

Human AFP Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable fatty acid binding activity and zinc ion binding activity. Predicted to act upstream of or within SMAD protein signal transduction; ovulation from ovarian follicle; and progesterone metabolic process. Predicted to be located in endoplasmic reticulum lumen. Predicted to be active in cytoplasm. Implicated in hepatitis C. Biomarker of carcinoma (multiple); germ cell cancer (multiple); and reproductive organ cancer (multiple).

Mouse Afp Target Information

Mouse Afp Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable fatty acid binding activity and zinc ion binding activity. Acts upstream of or within SMAD protein signal transduction; ovulation from ovarian follicle; and progesterone metabolic process. Located in cytoplasm and extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including amniotic fluid; egg cylinder; gut; liver and biliary system; and metanephros. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hepatitis C. Orthologous to human AFP (alpha fetoprotein).

Rat Afp Target Information

Rat Afp Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable fatty acid binding activity and zinc ion binding activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to retinoic acid; liver regeneration; and response to dexamethasone. Located in cytosol and extracellular space. Biomarker of hepatitis. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hepatitis C. Orthologous to human AFP (alpha fetoprotein).
