Assay PrincipleThis kit utilizes the double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection technique.Specific anti-human B4GALT1 antibodies are precoated on a high-affinity ELISA plate. Standard samples, test samples, and the detection antibody labeled with horseradish peroxidase are added to the wells of the ELISA plate. After incubation, B4GALT1 present in the samples binds to the solid-phase antibody and the detection antibody. After washing, a colorimetric substrate, TMB, is added and the plate is incubated in the dark for color development. The intensity of the color reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of B4GALT1 in the samples.A stop solution is added to terminate the reaction, and the absorbance value is measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (with a reference wavelength range of 570-630 nm).

Human B4GALT1 Predicted Functions

Enables several functions, including UDP-galactosyltransferase activity; manganese ion binding activity; and tubulin binding activity. Involved in oligosaccharide biosynthetic process and protein N-linked glycosylation. Located in several cellular components, including Golgi trans cisterna; basolateral plasma membrane; and brush border membrane. Implicated in congenital disorder of glycosylation and congenital disorder of glycosylation type IId.

Mouse B4galt1 Predicted Functions

Enables beta-N-acetylglucosaminylglycopeptide beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase activity; cytoskeletal protein binding activity; and laminin binding activity involved in cell-matrix adhesion. Involved in cell-matrix adhesion. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including lactose biosynthetic process; single fertilization; and tube morphogenesis. Located in Golgi apparatus; cell surface; and plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; genitourinary system; hemolymphoid system; liver; and nervous system. Used to study IgA glomerulonephritis and endocrine system disease. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in congenital disorder of glycosylation and congenital disorder of glycosylation type IId. Orthologous to human B4GALT1 (beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase 1).
