Assay PrincipleThis kit utilizes the double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection technique.Specific anti-human Lipocalin-2 antibodies are precoated on a high-affinity ELISA plate. Standard samples, test samples, and biotinylated detection antibodies are added to the wells of the ELISA plate. After incubation, Lipocalin-2 present in the samples binds to the solid-phase antibodies and the detection antibodies. After washing to remove unbound substances, streptavidin-HRP labeled with horseradish peroxidase is added. After washing, a colorimetric substrate, TMB, is added and the plate is incubated in the dark for color development. The intensity of the color reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of Lipocalin-2 in the samples.A stop solution is added to terminate the reaction, and the absorbance value is measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (with a reference wavelength range of 570-630 nm).

Human LCN2 Predicted Functions

Enables enterobactin binding activity; identical protein binding activity; and iron ion binding activity. Involved in defense response to bacterium and sequestering of iron ion. Located in extracellular space. Implicated in urinary tract infection. Biomarker of several diseases, including congenital diaphragmatic hernia; hidradenitis suppurativa; hydronephrosis; hypertension (multiple); and kidney disease (multiple).

Mouse Lcn2 Target Information

Mouse Lcn2 Predicted Functions

Enables iron ion binding activity. Involved in innate immune response; positive regulation of cold-induced thermogenesis; and siderophore transport. Acts upstream of or within extrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway in absence of ligand; response to bacterium; and response to virus. Located in extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including genitourinary system; gut; liver; lung; and spleen. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and urinary tract infection. Orthologous to human LCN2 (lipocalin 2).
