Assay PrincipleThis assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for human PRG2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standard, samples and biotin-linked detect antibody specific for PRG2 are pipetted into the wells and PRG2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody and detect antibody following incubation. After washing away any unbound substances, streptavidin-HRP is added. After washing, substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PRG2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Human PRG2 Predicted Functions

An extracellular matrix structural constituent conferring compression resistance. Predicted to be involved in defense response to bacterium and immune response. Predicted to act upstream of or within defense response to nematode and regulation of cytokine production. Located in collagen-containing extracellular matrix and extracellular exosome. Biomarker of Chagas disease; asthma; and peritoneum cancer.

Mouse Prg2 Target Information

Mouse Prg2 Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable carbohydrate binding activity. Predicted to be an extracellular matrix structural constituent conferring compression resistance. Acts upstream of or within defense response to nematode and regulation of cytokine production. Located in collagen-containing extracellular matrix. Is expressed in several structures, including immune system; liver; lung; and male reproductive gland or organ. Orthologous to human PRG2 (proteoglycan 2, pro eosinophil major basic protein).
