Assay PrincipleThis kit utilizes the double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection technique.Specific anti-human Resistin antibodies are precoated on a high-affinity ELISA plate. Standard samples, test samples, and biotinylated detection antibodies are added to the wells of the ELISA plate. After incubation, Resistin present in the samples binds to the solid-phase antibodies and the detection antibodies. After washing to remove unbound substances, streptavidin-HRP labeled with horseradish peroxidase is added. After washing, a colorimetric substrate, TMB, is added and the plate is incubated in the dark for color development. The intensity of the color reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of Resistin in the samples.A stop solution is added to terminate the reaction, and the absorbance value is measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (with a reference wavelength range of 570-630 nm).

Human RETN Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable hormone activity. Predicted to be involved in several processes, including fat cell differentiation; negative regulation of feeding behavior; and positive regulation of cell communication. Located in extracellular exosome. Implicated in hypertension; hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; obesity; and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Biomarker of several diseases, including diabetes mellitus (multiple); diabetic neuropathy; heart disease (multiple); kidney failure (multiple); and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Mouse Retn Target Information

Mouse Retn Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable hormone activity. Predicted to be involved in several processes, including positive regulation of cell communication; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell migration; and positive regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation. Located in extracellular space. Is expressed in adipose tissue; gonadal fat pad; inguinal fat pad; renal fat pad; and white fat. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hypertension; hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; obesity; and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Orthologous to human RETN (resistin).

Rat Retn Target Information

Rat Retn Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable hormone activity. Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of cell communication; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell migration; and positive regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation. Located in extracellular space and nucleus. Used to study colitis. Biomarker of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hypertension; hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; obesity; and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Orthologous to human RETN (resistin).
