Assay PrincipleThis kit utilizes the double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection technique.Specific anti-human TFR antibodies are precoated on a high-affinity ELISA plate. Standard samples, test samples, and biotinylated detection antibodies are added to the wells of the ELISA plate. After incubation, TFR present in the samples binds to the solid-phase antibodies and the detection antibodies. After washing to remove unbound substances, streptavidin-HRP labeled with horseradish peroxidase is added. After washing, a colorimetric substrate, TMB, is added and the plate is incubated in the dark for color development. The intensity of the color reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of TFR in the samples.A stop solution is added to terminate the reaction, and the absorbance value is measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (with a reference wavelength range of 570-630 nm).

Human TFRC Predicted Functions

Enables several functions, including double-stranded RNA binding activity; protein homodimerization activity; and transferrin receptor activity. Involved in several processes, including negative regulation of mitochondrial fusion; positive regulation of NF-kappaB transcription factor activity; and positive regulation of lymphocyte activation. Acts upstream of or within cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus. Located in several cellular components, including basolateral plasma membrane; clathrin-coated pit; and endosome. Is integral component of plasma membrane. Part of HFE-transferrin receptor complex. Implicated in breast carcinoma; immunodeficiency 46; multiple myeloma; and ovarian cancer. Biomarker of breast cancer; carcinoma (multiple); iron deficiency anemia; and prostate cancer.

Mouse Tfrc Target Information

Mouse Tfrc Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable several functions, including Hsp70 protein binding activity; chaperone binding activity; and protein homodimerization activity. Involved in osteoclast differentiation; positive regulation of bone resorption; and positive regulation of lymphocyte proliferation. Acts upstream of or within cellular iron ion homeostasis and cellular response to leukemia inhibitory factor. Located in several cellular components, including clathrin-coated pit; endosome; and extracellular exosome. Part of HFE-transferrin receptor complex. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; extraembryonic component; liver; lung; and meninges. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in breast carcinoma; immunodeficiency 46; multiple myeloma; and ovarian cancer. Orthologous to human TFRC (transferrin receptor).

Rat Tfrc Target Information

Rat Tfrc Predicted Functions

Enables Hsp70 protein binding activity; chaperone binding activity; and transferrin receptor activity. Involved in several processes, including response to copper ion; response to manganese ion; and response to retinoic acid. Located in several cellular components, including cell surface; extracellular exosome; and recycling endosome membrane. Biomarker of duodenal ulcer; hepatocellular carcinoma; muscular atrophy; non-alcoholic fatty liver disease; and nutrition disease. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in breast carcinoma; immunodeficiency 46; multiple myeloma; and ovarian cancer. Orthologous to human TFRC (transferrin receptor).
