Assay PrincipleThis assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for Mouse IL-18 has been immobilized onto microwells, and one pellet of the HRP-linked detect antibody specific for IL-18 (light yellow) is pre-placed in the microwells, sealed by the adhesive film. Standard or samples are pipetted into the wells, then IL-18 present is bound by the immobilized antibody and detect antibody. After washing, substrate solution reacts with HRP and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-18 bound by the immobilized antibody. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured by microplate reader.

Human IL18 Predicted Functions

Enables cytokine activity and interleukin-18 receptor binding activity. Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of cell population proliferation; positive regulation of intracellular signal transduction; and positive regulation of macromolecule metabolic process. Located in extracellular space. Implicated in several diseases, including Kawasaki disease; allergic rhinitis; autoimmune disease (multiple); biliary atresia; and hepatitis B. Biomarker of several diseases, including autoimmune disease (multiple); cholestasis (multiple); liver disease (multiple); lung disease (multiple); and myositis (multiple).

Mouse Il18 Target Information

Mouse Il18 Predicted Functions

Enables cytokine activity. Involved in lipid homeostasis; positive regulation of cell differentiation; and positive regulation of cold-induced thermogenesis. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including interleukin-18-mediated signaling pathway; positive regulation of NIK/NF-kappaB signaling; and positive regulation of interferon-gamma production. Located in extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including back skin; dorsal aorta; gut; lymphatic system; and reproductive system. Used to study atopic dermatitis. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including Kawasaki disease; allergic rhinitis; autoimmune disease (multiple); biliary atresia; and hepatitis B. Orthologous to human IL18 (interleukin 18).

Rat Il18 Target Information

Rat Il18 Predicted Functions

Predicted to enable cytokine activity and interleukin-18 receptor binding activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to hormone stimulus; positive regulation of cell population proliferation; and positive regulation of cytokine production. Located in apical plasma membrane; cytoplasm; and extracellular space. Used to study brain edema; fatty liver disease; heart disease; status epilepticus; and vasculitis. Biomarker of several diseases, including cardiac arrest; ischemia (multiple); lung disease (multiple); perinatal necrotizing enterocolitis; and urinary tract infection. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including Kawasaki disease; allergic rhinitis; autoimmune disease (multiple); biliary atresia; and hepatitis B. Orthologous to human IL18 (interleukin 18).
