Storage | If the reagent kit is unopened, it should be stored at 4℃. However, if it has been opened, the standard should be stored at -20℃, while the other components should be stored at 4℃. |
Delivery | 4℃ Blue Ice Transport |
Components | 1× Washing Buffer 1× Assay Buffer Stop Solution Substrate TMB Detect Antibody Standard Diluent Streptavidin-HRP Standard Microplate Wells |
Assay Principle | This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for Rat IL-18 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standard, samples and biotin-linked detect antibody specific for IL-18 are pipetted into the wells and IL-18 present is bound by the immobilized antibody and detect antibody following incubation. After washing away any unbound substances, streptavidin-HRP is added. After washing, substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-18 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. |

Human IL18 Predicted Functions
Enables cytokine activity and interleukin-18 receptor binding activity. Involved in several processes, including positive regulation of cell population proliferation; positive regulation of intracellular signal transduction; and positive regulation of macromolecule metabolic process. Located in extracellular space. Implicated in several diseases, including Kawasaki disease; allergic rhinitis; autoimmune disease (multiple); biliary atresia; and hepatitis B. Biomarker of several diseases, including autoimmune disease (multiple); cholestasis (multiple); liver disease (multiple); lung disease (multiple); and myositis (multiple).

Mouse Il18 Predicted Functions
Enables cytokine activity. Involved in lipid homeostasis; positive regulation of cell differentiation; and positive regulation of cold-induced thermogenesis. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including interleukin-18-mediated signaling pathway; positive regulation of NIK/NF-kappaB signaling; and positive regulation of interferon-gamma production. Located in extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including back skin; dorsal aorta; gut; lymphatic system; and reproductive system. Used to study atopic dermatitis. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including Kawasaki disease; allergic rhinitis; autoimmune disease (multiple); biliary atresia; and hepatitis B. Orthologous to human IL18 (interleukin 18).
