Assay PrincipleThis kit utilizes the double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection technique.Specific anti-human BMP-4 antibodies are precoated on a high-affinity ELISA plate. Standard samples, test samples, and the detection antibody labeled with horseradish peroxidase are added to the wells of the ELISA plate. After incubation, BMP-4 present in the samples binds to the solid-phase antibodies and the detection antibodies. After washing, a colorimetric substrate, TMB, is added and the plate is incubated in the dark for color development. The intensity of the color reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of BMP-4 in the samples. A stop solution is added to terminate the reaction, and the absorbance value is measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (with a reference wavelength range of 570-632 nm).

Human BMP4 Predicted Functions

Enables BMP receptor binding activity; co-receptor binding activity; and receptor ligand activity. Involved in several processes, including animal organ development; negative regulation of cell population proliferation; and transmembrane receptor protein serine/threonine kinase signaling pathway. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including positive regulation of osteoblast differentiation; regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II; and respiratory system development. Located in extracellular space. Implicated in several diseases, including CAKUT (multiple); cleft lip; orofacial cleft 11; ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of spine; and otosclerosis. Biomarker of several diseases, including Barrett’s esophagus; eye disease (multiple); myositis ossificans; progressive osseous heteroplasia; and prolactinoma.

Mouse Bmp4 Target Information

Mouse Bmp4 Predicted Functions

Enables heparin binding activity. Involved in several processes, including animal organ development; positive regulation of cell population proliferation; and regulation of morphogenesis of a branching structure. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including animal organ development; embryonic morphogenesis; and regulation of animal organ morphogenesis. Located in extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; embryo ectoderm; embryo mesenchyme; genitourinary system; and sensory organ. Used to study Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome type 3; atrioventricular septal defect; cleft palate-lateral synechia syndrome; fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva; and urinary system disease. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including CAKUT (multiple); cleft lip; orofacial cleft 11; ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of spine; and otosclerosis. Orthologous to human BMP4 (bone morphogenetic protein 4).

Rat Bmp4 Target Information

Rat Bmp4 Predicted Functions

Enables growth factor activity and identical protein binding activity. Involved in several processes, including animal organ development; positive regulation of calcium ion transport; and positive regulation of cell differentiation. Acts upstream of or within positive regulation of ossification and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in cytoplasm; extracellular space; and vesicle. Biomarker of Barrett’s esophagus; congenital diaphragmatic hernia; epilepsy; peptic esophagitis; and prolactinoma.
