Assay PrincipleThis kit utilizes the double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detection technique.Specific anti-human MMP-2 antibodies are precoated on a high-affinity ELISA plate. Standard samples, test samples, and biotinylated detection antibodies are added to the wells of the ELISA plate. After incubation, MMP-2 present in the samples binds to the solid-phase antibodies and the detection antibodies. After washing to remove unbound substances, streptavidin-HRP labeled with horseradish peroxidase is added. After washing, a colorimetric substrate, TMB, is added and the plate is incubated in the dark for color development. The intensity of the color reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of MMP-2 in the samples. A stop solution is added to terminate the reaction, and the absorbance value is measured at a wavelength of 450 nm (with a reference wavelength range of 570-630 nm).

Human MMP2 Predicted Functions

Enables metallopeptidase activity and serine-type endopeptidase activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to UV-A; endodermal cell differentiation; and positive regulation of vascular associated smooth muscle cell proliferation. Located in extracellular space. Colocalizes with collagen-containing extracellular matrix. Implicated in artery disease (multiple); eye disease (multiple); pseudoxanthoma elasticum; and temporal arteritis. Biomarker of several diseases, including artery disease (multiple); carcinoma (multiple); cardiomyopathy (multiple); cholesteatoma (multiple); and neurodegenerative disease (multiple).

Mouse Mmp2 Target Information

Mouse Mmp2 Predicted Functions

Enables metalloendopeptidase activity. Involved in response to amyloid-beta. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including blood vessel maturation; bone trabecula formation; and collagen catabolic process. Located in several cellular components, including extracellular space; mitochondrion; and sarcomere. Is expressed in several structures, including embryo mesenchyme; genitourinary system; heart; jaw; and musculoskeletal system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in artery disease (multiple); eye disease (multiple); pseudoxanthoma elasticum; and temporal arteritis. Orthologous to human MMP2 (matrix metallopeptidase 2).
