Assay PrincipleThis assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for human OSM has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standard, samples and biotin-linked detect antibody specific for OSM are pipetted into the wells and OSM present is bound by the immobilized antibody and detect antibody following incubation. After washing away any unbound substances, streptavidin-HRP is added. After washing, substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of OSM bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Human OSM Target Information

Human OSM Predicted Functions

Enables cytokine activity; growth factor activity; and oncostatin-M receptor binding activity. Involved in several processes, including oncostatin-M-mediated signaling pathway; positive regulation of macromolecule metabolic process; and positive regulation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B signal transduction. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including positive regulation of MAPK cascade; positive regulation of protein phosphorylation; and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Predicted to be located in extracellular space.

Mouse Osm Target Information

Mouse Osm Predicted Functions

Enables cytokine activity. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including behavioral response to pain; negative regulation of meiotic nuclear division; and positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation. Predicted to be located in extracellular space. Is expressed in aorta-gonad-mesonephros; future spinal cord; genitourinary system; liver; and submandibular gland. Orthologous to human OSM (oncostatin M).

Rat Osm Target Information
